The last training day for Southern Sporting Training scheme is 3rd November 2018.

It is with regret that, after 58 years of training people to ride motorcycles, the Southern Sporting Training scheme has had to admit defeat and close its’ doors for motorcycle training, following the changes to the licensing laws and the decline in pupil numbers.
The team would like to thank everyone who has supported the Training Scheme over the years, and hope that you all continue to ride safely.
The Southern Sporting Motorcycle Club is still around and if you are interested in becoming a member, or want to sample a club run, please contact our club secretary.  enquiries@ssmcc.co.uk

The SSMCT Difference

With over 100 years of combined training experience, the SSMCT team knows quite a bit about teaching people to ride motorcycles and scooters. However, what makes our training unique is that we are all volunteers, joined by a shared passion for motorcycles, excellence in training and upholding the community ethos.

Therefore, when you walk through the SSMCT door our sole objective is enabling you to achieve your riding ambitions in a safe, structured and enjoyable environment. We are the only such voluntary organisation in the UK, providing you with a unique opportunity to experience this premier training service for yourself.

We provide training for CBT (Compulsory Basic Training) and A1 (up to 125cc) motorcycle test. All of our instructors are experienced motorcyclists themselves and are fully qualified and regularly assessed by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency.

You are in very good hands!

The Personal Touch

We always teach on a one-to-one basis and partnering with an SSMCT instructor puts a teacher, friend, mentor and vast resource of riding information at your personal disposal, for as long as you need it.

Your instructor will work with you to understand your riding ambitions, including any previous experience on two or four wheels, before tailoring the course delivery to your specific needs.

It’s all about you…

Everything is done at your pace, ensuring you fully understand each area of the course and get the maximum from your training.

There’s no such thing as a stupid question and it’s important that you’re comfortable, confident and relaxed. We therefore provide a friendly and approachable teaching style, ensuring that you’re put at ease and properly supported throughout your learning experience, and beyond.

We also provide regular breaks, with an (almost) inexhaustible supply of tea, coffee and donuts. What more could you ask for?

Because of the voluntary nature of our training school we only offer training on a Saturday; however, we strongly believe that weekly training sessions provide the optimum learning structure:

  • Your brain can only absorb a certain amount of information in one session
  • The pace of learning can be properly matched to your progress
  • We don’t compromise on quality to complete within a fixed time
  • We really work at the pace that best suits you

We are therefore able to provide a premium training service that delivers higher quality than other schemes are able to provide:

  • Higher quality of course delivery with every detail covered
  • Higher quality of instructor support through one-to-one teaching
  • Higher quality of riding skill that you will achieve upon course completion

If you are in the area on Saturday afternoon please call in and we’ll treat you to a drink and a donut. No hard sell and no obligation – we’d just love to meet you and help you get started.
